The Carbonhand is a new product which has recently received TGA registration for use in Australia. Paul Nowicki from Base Medical recently attended our Clinic to present a demonstration of its use.
Carbonhand is a revolutionary exoskeleton glove which acts as an assistive aid for people with impaired hand function by improving their grip strength. It amplifies gripping movements when the user touches an object and applies very light pressure, this pressure is multiplied by the orthosis.
The Carbonhand glove has sensors in the palm of the hand and in the tips of the fingers.
When a user puts on the Carbonhand glove light touch activates the sensors and the glove initiates finger flexion into assist grasp and grip. The sensors can be programmed for light, medium or strong force which aids in enhancing the users grip strength.
